LOCAL GOVERNMENT EDUCATION AREA ACTIVITIES, 1999-2007
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
The LGEA came into being along with other department in the Local Government in June 1989. It took-off with an initial staff strength of 250 and 50 Primary Schools. The Local Government Education Authority is made up of four units which include:
- Personnel Management Unit.
- Inspectorate Unit.
- Planning Research and Statistics Unit.
- Finance and supply unit.
From 1999 to 2007 three Education Secretaries served in the Local Government Education Authority and they are:

STRUCTURE
The LGEA has a total number of seventy five Primary Schools including Nursery and Primary Schools and Sixty Eight Toilets. Similarly the LGEA has a total number of Eighty Five Office accommodations in the primary schools and forty classes spread across the LGEA
There are total of Thirty Thousand, Five Hundred and Nine enrolment in the LGEA with sixteen Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty Males and Thirteen Thousand Six Hundred and Fifty Nine Female Pupils.
The total Teaching staff in the LGEA is four Hundred and Eighty Five comprising of Males and Females. It has two Hundred and Twenty Two Non-Teaching staff. This brings the total seven Hundred and Seven Teaching and non Teaching staff in the Local Government Education Authority.
CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT
- Rehabilitation of Forty Nine Primary Schools.
- Construction of one block of two classrooms at Fifteen Primary Schools.
- Establishment of New Primary Schools at Wali, Dan Yusufa, Dan Banjida, S/Bida and Dan Doro Ibrahim Primary Schools.
- Establishment of seven Nursery Schools at Bindaa, Shibdawa, Doro, Kamari, Dallaje, Tama and Giremawa Nursery Schools.
- Recruitment of One Hundred and seventeen Primary School Teachers.
- Provision of Fifty Thousand copies of Continuous Assessment Booklets to the LGEA.
- Metal Furniture provided to the LGEAS by Local Government.
- Purchase of Science and Technical forms, forms for admission into Junior Islamic Studies and forms for Teachers to further their Education.
- Taking responsibility of Qur’anic competitions from Local to Federal Level in each year.
- Payment of allowance of Primary School Teachers attending studies at Higher Institutions of learning annually.
- Taking responsibility of Quiz and Debate competitions from School level to state level each year.
- Subsidizing the Motorcycles loan given to Teachers in the year 2005.
- Provision of exercise books and other stationeries to all Primary Schools.
- Provision of cow and essentials commodities to the staff of LGEA for sallah celebration.
- Provision of fertilizer to LGEA staffs.
- Construction of toilets and culverts at various Primary Schools
- Rehabilitation of LGEA Secretariat in 2006
- Repairs of LGEA Pick-up Vehicle.
- Giving of donations to all schools conducting speech and Prize- Giving day Celebration.
AWARD RECEIVED BY LGEA
- The LGEA won E.T.F (State) Educational Merit Award in the following Years:
- 2 nd Position in the year 2000
- 3 rd Position in the Year 2001
- 1 st Position in the year 2002
- 1 st Postion in the year 2005.
- Won the best actress in inter Local Government Compettition.
- The LGEA took 7 th Position among 34 LGEAs in Qur’anic recitation competition in 2006.
CONTRIBUTION OF STATE UNIVERSAL BASIC EDUCATION BOARD.
- Annual sensitization and mobilization campaign which brought about increase in enrolment and community participation in the Primary Education Sector.
- Annual distribution of instruction Materials to primary Schools within the state in general and the LGEA in particular.
- Provision of Motorcycle to primary school Teachers on Loan scheme from 2004 to date in chiefs price.
- construction in most of our primary schools
- Annual promotion of deserving primary Schools Teachers
- Prompt payment of salaries and other entitlements to primary School Teachers.
CONTRIBUTION OF INDIVIDUALS
- Provision of stationeries and furniture from 2004 – 2005 by Alh. Musa Ali Gyauda Educational Foundation.
- Lawal Ibrahim provided uniforms to Bindawa Model Primary School Class one intake in 2005/2006
