AGRICULTURAL RESOURCES IN BINDAWA LOCAL GOVERNMENT, IDENTIFIED BY THE COMMITTEE SET UP BY THE KATSINA STATE GOVERNOR BARRISTER IBRAHIM SHEHU SHEMA FOR THE PROMOTION OF INDUSTRIES IN THE STATE.

 

The local government is traditionally an agricultural area both rainy and dry season farming is practiced in the Area. The industrial potential for Agriculture resources includes the following:

RAW MATERIALS

APPLICATION

SORGHUM/MILLET

Used as food, production of baby foods, corn flakes, sorghum malt, extracted for used in confectioneries, production of livestock feeds, starch production for textiles and pharmaceuticals industries, stalk used in the production of saw dust cement floor tiles.

 

QUANTITY

Extremely large quantity is produced in the Local Government.

GROUND NUT

Used in the production of ground nut oil, butter, livestock feeds, ceiling particle board from pulverized ground nut shells, also used in confectioneries. 

 

QUANTITY

An estimate of 204,691 tones per annum in the State.

HIDES AND SKINS

Used in leather industries, edibles, pharmaceuticals industries, emulsifiers and gelatins.  

 

QUANTITY

Very large quantity.

RED SORREL RUMX ACCETOSA (SOBORODO)

Used as food in a beverages.

Large quantity

ACACIA NILOTICA (BAGARUWA)

Used in the production of chemicals for processing leather, pharmaceuticals industries, wood industries, food industries etc.

Found in a commercial quantity.

CASTOR SEED

Used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, varnishes lacquers, printing inks, tanning, textiles, paints etc.

Very large, found in the area.
